Steps to START the petition to graduate process:

To start the Petition to Graduate process, you must log into Self Service and “Apply for Graduation.”

my.academyart.edu > log into Self Service > My Educational Profile > Academics >
Apply for Graduation > Select a term and click on “Apply”

Steps to COMPLETE the petition to graduate process:

These steps should be completed prior to enrolling in your final classes.

Academic Advising Report

Contact your Advisor for a final program evaluation and to obtain a copy of your Academic Advising report.
You will need to give this report to your director for departmental approval.

  • Undergraduate students call Student Services at 415.618.6508.
  • Graduate students call 415.274.8617.

All students must obtain approval from their department.

Career Survey

All students must do an exit survey on the internet.
Go to: http://apply.academyart.edu/careersvsgradtrack/
Note: You must use Firefox or Internet Explorer to access the survey.

Financial Aid Students

For all students who have received Federal Student Loans - It is a federal requirement that you have an exit interview with the Financial Aid office. Exit Interviews must be scheduled no earlier than 30 days prior to graduation. Note: This step is not necessary to be completed prior to registration for your final classes.

International Students

If you are here in F-1 status (I-20), and have completed your course of study, you have 60 days from the day you complete your studies to do ONE of the following four things. Be aware that the date you COMPLETE your studies is the day you finish the last REQUIREMENT for your degree NOT the graduation date.

  • Leave the country
  • Apply for a change to another immigration status
  • Transfer to a new school or a new AAU program, get a new I-20 for that program and begin attendance in that program in the next possible semester
  • Begin Optional Practical Training (Note that you must apply for OPT before you complete your degree requirements.)

Student Self Service > Personal Portfolio > Address | Web Address | E-mail Address

Update your address
Log into Self Service and verify your address. The diploma will be sent to your Home address.

Update your web address
If you have a website, log into Self Service and update your Internet Address.

Update your e-mail address
Log into Self Service and verify your home e-mail address. Important information regarding Commencement will be sent to this address.
