Advertising Club (AAU Federalists)
This club serves as a bridge across all disciplines in the school for means of collaboration. We
strive to create long lasting relationships with both current Academy of Art University students
and those well seasoned in the advertising industry. We want to improve quality of work and expand
our knowledge of the advertising field through events and shared resources and to have fun while
developing skills that will carry over into our future careers.

African Student Association (ASA)
This club brings greater awareness to African culture from our school’s African students. We are
a multinational African students club involving students from all nations in the continent through
events and dialogue as a positive representative community here.
- This organization is to serve as a common platform to unite the growing number of African
students at the Academy.
- The organization will also serve as a medium to learn about the diverse culture from the
African continent.
- We will serve as a support system for new African students who are trying to integrate into
this society.
- The organization serves as a medium for collaboration between the different African artists in
the school.
This is an organization that promotes the learning of the African culture, membership is open to
all students of the Academy of Art irrespective of race, nationality or creed.

The Animation Collaboration Treaty (TACT)
The purpose of The Animation Collaboration Treaty is to provide all students at the Academy of
Art University with easy access to other students of any major interested in working on
collaborative digital animation projects. If an animator needs a character to animate they can find
a modeler to create one. If a modeler needs clothing design for a character they can find a fashion
designer. All majors can find ways to gain experience in a work force and pursue a career more
realistically after working in a group.

Bay Area Documentary Association (BADA)
The Bay Area Documentary Association (BADA) is dedicated to educating and motivating our viewers
by raising questions and encouraging them to connect through the medium of photography. We are a
group of visual storytellers committed to the exploration of the human condition and experience. It
is BADA’s objective to uphold passion and sincerity in our work, while professionally supporting
every member to achieve their highest potential.

The purpose of the Black Artists Union is to provide unity among all students at the Academy of
Art University. Our goal is to promote student development through academics; philanthropy and

Breakdance Club
The purpose of the Breakdance club is to promote and spread the art of Breakdancing while
creating a place where fellow dancers can come to session, practice or learn. All forms of hip-hop
dance styles are welcome along with newcomers with no experience at all.

Chinese Students Association
We provide a platform and community for Chinese students to contact and associate with each
other and learn the city together. We have a forum for Chinese students that give them a chance to
share information online. Before a semester starts, we pick up Chinese students from the airport
and help them complete the registration process. We will hold activities regularly for all
students, meanwhile we will help them get used to the city and enjoy their lives in San
Francisco.

Comix Club
We, the steadfast crew of the comic book club do pledge to create a place for comic book fans
and creators to meet and be in good company. We will encourage students to look at comics as more
than just a hobby but as a valid medium of artistic expression. We will explore career
opportunities within the comics world to help prepare students for life outside of school. We will
encourage student work and arrange for student work to be shown publicly. We will also create a
social network for students to meet and exchange ideas. And though the sea may rage and the wind
may blow, we hold fast to this constitution, to the end of the seven seas.

Concept Club
We are dedicated to the enrichment of our skills as artists in the world of Visual Development.
We seek to create this enrichment though regular networking, competition, collaboration, portfolio
reviews, speakers, and collaboration with other clubs here at school and the wider community. We
support each other in the process of achieving our dream: Have Fun and have work for being the best
artist in the business and to create the best concept art for films, games and any other medium
where our skills are used.

Drama Club
The purpose of Drama Club is to provide an opportunity for any student at the Academy of Art
University to perform and/or help produce a live theatrical production each semester, except during
summer school. We meet once a week to rehearse scenes, monologues and improvisational forms. We
also bring in guest speakers and attend a professional theatrical production each semester. The
club has been in existence for 7 years and has produced 14 shows. Students audition for parts in
shows and must be able to commit to a regular rehearsal schedule above and beyond our weekly
meetings.

Ed on campus is a social networking organization of creative minds who want to take the magazine
publishing industry by storm — from writers who pitch a story to the editors who proof it; from
stylists who coordinate a shoot to the photographers who snap it; from the illustrators who sketch
a design to the graphic designer who lays it out. No matter what your niche, there’s a magazine job

Film Club
Partly founded by Bob Toy & Academy of Art University Students first in the 1970's, it is a
club for students to view and appreciate a variety interesting and entertaining films that may not
necessarily be noticed outside of the mainstream. It is also a place where film admirers gather to
exchange ideas and views about the films they admire. Cinema discussion and education would enhance
viewing as well as give not only MPT students ideas for their projects, but may also inspire
students in other fields as well. Film Club screens once or twice a week, depending on venue
availability.

Film Crew
The Film Crew is open to all majors at the Academy of Art University. It embraces all levels of
talent and experience and engages members in a community of artists on campus. The Film Crew
provides faculty and professional mentorship, pitches, critiques, screenings and on set experience.
The Film Crew helps produce film festivals every semester. The Film Crew serves to fuel passion in
film making by encouraging film production, collaborations, networking, hands-on participation,
mentorship, support and professionalism among students.

Ignite Magazine
We showcase the best AAU student art & literary work in a (bi) annual print magazine,
supplemented by online material at
www.ignitemagazine.org. We hope to feature fine arts,
illustration, photography, graphic design, new media, poetry, prose and essays. Online material
consists of interviews with students, faculty and alumni. Our unseen purpose is to build student
pride and unity, especially to ignite the spirit of collaboration for both on-site and online
campuses. We also throw 2-3 events per semester for fundraising and publicity, inviting musicians
(Grammy award winning Ikey Owens) who are already with a fan base, so students know our events will
always be in great taste.

ISA aims at creating a home away from home feeling for Indian Students at AAU through cultural
celebrations and interactive meetings. We intend to build a helpful nexus of Indian students within

Illustration Club
Our mission is to get students with similar interests together to provide an outlet for creation
outside of the classroom. We aim to provide a venue where students can have free form learning

skills in order to assist them after graduation.

Independent Game Production Society (IGP)
Our club focuses mainly on the production and design of independent games. We encourage students
to explore their own ideas and give them the means to see their games come to life. We stress the
importance of game development on all fronts from concept, pre and post production to final
marketing and audience interaction, not just building assets for already established game
companies. Students who join will gain invaluable experience working in a collaborative
environment, will gain networking experience garnered towards their game careers and finally will
have a finished game under their belt. Independent games will also learn the basis of how to
survive in this ever changing gaming climate and will be introduced to other possibilities outside
of gaming that are related to their field.

Our mission is to create a group of men at the Academy of Art University who are dedicated to

organizations, Kappa Sigma creates situations that allow members to build leadership and

The Taiwanese Students Association at Academy of Art University San Francisco is a non-profit
and non-political student organization, which focuses on enriching the college experience of all
