Starting a New Club or Organization

Thank you for your interest in starting a new student club or organization here at the Academy of Art University. For your convenience we have created two ways to start a new club or organization.

Arrange an in-person meeting with Campus Life & Leadership staff to review the goals, purpose and course of action for your new potential group.

Complete the New Club or Organization Form in order to expedite the process and arrange a meeting with Campus Life & Leadership after submitting all necessary information.

Before beginning, please review the requirements for all clubs and organizations listed in the Campus Affairs Guidebook on page five.

Please see Starting a New Club or Organization followed by setting up an appointment with the Campus Life & Leadership Clubs Assistant.

Step 1: Decide the emphasis for your group:

Academic: An organization that embraces scholarly learning outside the classroom, focusing on academic programs offered inside and outside the University.
Cultural: A racial, ethnic or social group with a shared set of attitudes, customary beliefs, values, goal and practices.
Fraternity & Sorority: A single-sex organization based on brotherhood or sisterhood through leadership, scholarship, service and ritual.
Leisure: An organization whose purpose is to provide freedom from time-consuming duties, responsibilities or academics.
Performing Arts: An organization that would perform in front of an audience in an artistic format such as dance, drama and/or music.

Service & Political: An organization that performs community service or is political in nature.

Step 2: What is the mission/purpose of your club or organization?
