TRANSFER INFORMATION

The BTS FDL-90 telecine will transfer:
16mm, Super 16mm, 35mm, Negative, Reversal, Interpositive, Positive, Color and Black & White. We will not transfer a cut workprint, as the Telecine machine is not set up to handle spliced film.

Film must be prepped for telecine prior to your reservation time. The lab will do this upon your request. They will load your film onto a 3" core, splice 10’ ft. of leader onto the head and tail of the film, and ensure the film is clean of dust and debris. Please be sure to bring in your negative, not your workprint.

We can also correct standard definition 24P footage supplied on DVCAM or Mini DV.

Film/Video can be transferred to:
HARDRIVE, MINI-DV, and DVCAM simultaneously.

Students and faculty must provide their own tape stock.

When transferring to External Drive

Please make sure your drive is MAC formatted as MAC OS EXTENDED. If it's FAT 32 we will not be able to transfer to your drive.
We will provide you with a QuickTime movie captured thru Final Cut pro. The File will be 10-bit Uncompressed 4:2:2 @ 2GIGs per MINUTE

Cancellations

Please cancel you appointment via telephone (415) 618-3867 at least 24 hours before your appointment. PLEASE DO NOT DONATE YOUR TIME TO A FELLOW CLASSMATE, since we will be utilizing this time to transfer drop offs.

Conduct

Please limit the number of people present at your session to no more than three: Producer, Director and Cinematographer.

Food/Drinks: Please do not bring any food to your Telecine session. Drinks are allowed as long as they leave with you when session ends.

Communication: Please designate one person to communicate with colorist and know what you want before your session. Give us an exa.m.ple of a film or bring a picture; what ever it takes to get you what you want.

Limitations of film and Video: There are some limitations to what we can produce here in the Telecine Studio. If your film has registration, focus or extreme exposure problems we may not be able to transfer consistent images. Video will also be limited to what you shot. In other words if it is blown out or too dark, there is information loss.
